You’re most welcome, Hilary! Thanks for taking the time to read the article and to share a bit of your story with me. As I discuss in the piece, I place so much emphasis on mindbody-based ‘treatments’ because 1) they’ve worked well for me and 2) no medical tests ever revealed anything seriously wrong with my body from a structural perspective. Whilst I believe most, perhaps even all, people stand to benefit from a better understanding of the connection between mind and body, and whilst Dr. Sarno’s work is especially suited to those who experience persistent pain in the absence of objectively abnormal organs, bones, etc., I certainly don’t consider mindbody work to be a one-size-fits-all cure, nor should it be treated as a substitute for other forms of appropriate intervention (e.g., dietary changes, physiotherapy, surgery, etc.). I believe the restoration and maintenance of good health, both mental and physical, requires a multi-pronged approach. It sounds like you’re of the same belief. Best of luck to you on your ongoing journey. I sincerely hope you continue to find enjoyment in life and an improvement to your wellbeing over time ❤
